SOTHEBYS 19TH CENTURY SALE TOTAL 5.5 MILLION

Category: LATEST NEWS

IT WAS OK BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN IMPRESSIONIST SALE

AND A 19TH CENTURY SALE!!

JACOBIDES , ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HIS WORK!!

THE MAJOR NAMES OF 19TH CENTURY MANAGED TO SELL BUT IN MY VIEW THERE IS STILL AN DISTINCT LACK OF SUPPORT OF THIS MARKET.

THE HAMMERSHOI SOLD FOR 465,000 WHICH I THINK WAS A GOOD RESULT AS THIS EXAMPLE OF HIS WORK WAS NOT THE BEST WE HAVE SEEN.

COROT APPEARED WITH A 453,000 SALE AS WELL AS MOREAU FOR 513,000 TO SAVE THE FRENCH SECTION OF THE SALE EMBARRASSMENT.

THE SCANDINAVIAN SECTION SOLD WELL WITH ZORN AND KALLELA WHO SOLD FOR 187,000.

SOROLLA AS ALWAYS POPULAR WITH SPANISH COLLECTORS WAS BID TO 525,000 FOR AN UN-IMPORTANT PAINTING OF HIS.

BOLDINI MANAGED 393,000 FOR ONE OF HIS SUPERB PORTRAITS.

FINALLY THE GREEK MARKET IS STILL IN POOR SHAPE BUT THE SUPERB IACOBIDES IN THE SALE MANAGED TO SELL FOR 206,000. A PAINTING OF THIS SIZE AND CALIBRE WOULD HAVE SOLD CLOSE TO A MILLION POUNDS A FEW YEARS BACK. WHAT A BARGAIN THIS WAS!!

19TH CENTURY ART ON 13TH DECEMBER IN LONDON

THERE IS ART FROM ALL OVER EUROPE STARTING FROM FINLAND AND SWEDEN TO FRANCE, FROM SPAIN TO ITALY AND GREECE. THE COLLECTION OF 19TH CENTURY ART IS GREAT AND IN SOME CASES PRICES ARE REALLY ATTRACTIVE AND  INVITE INVESTORS. UNFORTUNATELY THIS PERIOD OF ART IS NOT POPULAR RIGHT NOW AND PERHAPS IT IS THE TIME TO INVEST IN IT.

WE SELECT THE TOP LOT OF THE SALE BY WILHELM HAMMERSHOI

SOLD FOR 465,000 POUNDS

ART INVESTMENTS REQUIRE PATIENCE AND LONG WAIT!!

HOW MUCH IS THIS WORTH TODAY??

HANS FOFFMAN

THE ISSUE WITH MOST OF US IS TIME AND MONEY. WE HAVE NO MONEY AND SO TIME PRESSES US TO DO THE THINGS WE KNOW ARE WRONG AND WONT BE THE RIGHT ONES.

IN MY ART DEALING YEARS AND THEY ARE OVER THIRTY YEARS, I WAS ALWAYS PRESSED BY TIME AND MONEY MATTERS. I MANAGED MY MONEY BADLY AND AS A CONSEQUENCE THAT PRESSED ME TO MAKE DECISIONS THAT WERE WRONG AND FINANCIALLY DISASTROUS. HAVING SAID THAT, I RUSH TO ADD, THAT SOME OF MY EARLY SALES WERE ALSO CORRECT AS THE MARKETS LATER TOOK NEGATIVE TURNS AND WOULD HAVE BEEN PROVEN WRONG INVESTMENTS HAD I NOT SOLD IMMEDIATELY!!

HOWEVER, OVERALL.......

MY BLOG TODAY TELLS YOU MORE .......

ATHENS DURING 2004 OLYMPICS

EIGHTEEN DAYS OF CREATING ART HISTORY OF GREECE

THE PAINTINGS THAT HAVE HISTORICAL VALUE FOR ANY NATION, STAND THE TIME AND DESERVE THEIR PLACE IN HISTORY. VASILIS ZENETZIS WAS A GREAT GREEK PATRIOT AND HIS WORK OF THE LAST FIFTY YEARS OF HIS LIFE AND ESPECIALLY THE YEARS BETWEEN 1992-2004 MARK HIM OUT AS A SIGNIFICANT IMPRESSIONIST ARTIST WHO FOUND RECOGNITION ALL OVER THE WORLD AND AT THE MAJOR AUCTIONS OF THE WORLD, SOTHEBYS, CHRITIES AND BONHAMS.

DURING THE ATHENS OLYMPICS OF 2004 HE PRODUCES SEVEN PAINTINGS OF ATHENS ANTIQUITIES THAT ARE DESTINED TO BE A LANDMARK IN HIS ART AND GREEK ART, AS HE WAS THE ONLY ARTIST WHO DEVOTED HIS TIME AND EFFORT TO PAINT THE ATHENS OF 2004 AND PARTICULARLY ATHENS OF 2004 AND THE OLYMPICS.

HERE IS HIS  SIXTH PAINTING OF THE SERIES OF THE MAGNIFICENT

SEVEN WITH ZENETZIS AT WORK ON LOCATION WITHIN THE AREA OF

OLYMPIAN ZEUS COLUMNS!!

THE FINISHED PAINTING

APART FROM BEING VERY HOT AND THE WIND STOPPING VASILIS FROM TIME TO TIME ALL WENT SMOOTHLY AND THE PAINTING WAS FINISHED IN TWO DAYS.

ANOTHER MAGNIFICENT PAINTING WAS PAINTED FOR POSTERITY ON THE 15TH AND 16TH OF AUGUST 2004 AND THE ARTIST WAS SO HAPPY WITH THE RESULT. I WAS MORE THAN HAPPY AND THE THOUSANDS OF TOURISTS WITHIN THE OLYMPIAN ZEUS RUINS WERE IMPRESSED AND HAPPY TO WATCH AN ARTIST AT WORK AMONG THE ANCIENT GROUNDS OF OLYMPIAN ZEUS RUINS, WHICH STAND ABOUT 500 METRES AWAY FROM THE ACROPOLIS.
