BRITISH ART SHINES IN SOTHEBYS LONDON SALE

Read Time:31 Second

LUCIEN FREUD AND HIS PORTRAIT OF HOCKNEY TOP THE SALE WITH 15 MILLION

PETER LANYON FOR JUST UNDER A MILLION

THAT WAS A GREAT PRICE FOR A PORTRAIT BUT THAT WAS NOT THE ONLY FINE RESULT IN THE SALE.

HOCKNEY HIMSELF TOOK OVER FOUR MILLION FOR HIS GLADIOLI.

DOIG TOOK OVER FOUR MILLION WITH HIS BOMB ISLAND AND OVER FIVE MILLION WITH HIS BLUE MOUNTAIN.

MORE SUCCESSE FOR LOWRY, BOMBERG ETC.

WHEN A SALE AMASSES  48 MILLION FOR ONE SALE WITH SO FEW LOTS, WE CONSIDER IT A GREAT SUCCESS AND VERY PROMISING FOR ANY BRITISH ART.

PETER CONSTANT
