I MET QUITE A NUMBER OF ARTISTS BUT NONE WITH THIS PATHOS (passion) for PAINTING

Zenetzis was a man of the arts, a man who could not sit still unless he was painting what he always loved and used as his muse; GREECE and its beauty from the ancient world to modern Greece of Athens, the islands from Corfu to Crete and Rhodes and finally Cyprus.

I am a Cypriot he used to say because we all come from the same race and have the same past and present. I am a Greek of Asia Minor descend, you are a modern refugee from Cyprus and that is a bond I feel strongly about. We are all Greeks, people of a unique nation with a history second to none. We are Greeks united by a history of 4000 years at least, a history that lives today and shapes the future of tomorrow!

How can I be a painter, if I do not paint my past, present and future as I see it and know it?

In a series of twelve articles, I will narrate how Zenetzis painted Greece in the last years of his life as I saw him and lived the experience!!!

The first weekly article will be logged tomorrow with inimitable paintings of Athens of the years 1990 onwards.
