GREEK ART HAS MOVED A STEP FORWARD WITH SALE IN LONDON

I CALCULATE 65% SOLD

WE LOOK UP TO OUR ANCESTORS!!

CONSTANTINE MALEAS, A VIEW OF THE ACROPOLIS!!

WHEN A SALE, ANY SALE ACHIEVES 65% TOTAL, THEN INVESTORS START NOTICING AND BELIEVING THAT SOMETHING IS HAPPENING AND THAT THE WORST IS OVER. LONDON USED TO HAVE SALES OF 50% OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS AND EVERYBODY INVOLVED IN GREEK ART GOT USED TO THAT.

THE SALE AT BONHAMS THIS WEEK FAILED IN ONE RESPECT; TO SELL THE TOP LOT, WHICH I AM SURE MUST HAVE SOLD AFTER THE SALE FOR LESS THAN WAS ASKED FOR IT BY THE VENDORS. BONHAMS DESERVE CONGRATULATIONS FOR THEIR WORK IN GREEK ART AND HOW THEY KEPT THIS SECTION OF THE MARKET GOING UNDER THE WORST CONDITIONS POSSIBLE.

GYSIS TOOK THE HONOURS OF THE BEST PAINTING IN THE SALE BUT DO NOT TAKE AWAY ANYTHING FROM ANYTHING ELSE IT SOLD IN THE BONHAMS EVENT. VASILIOU, FASSIANOS, GHIKA, MORALIS, TASAROUHIS ETC DID WELL AND PROMISE BETTER WITH GREEK ECONOMY MOVING POSITIVELY.

WE KEEP BELIEVING IN THIS MARKET AS WE APPROACH THE BICENTINERY OF GREEK REVOLUTION 1821. IT WILL MARK THE TURN AND PROMISE IN GREEK ART AND ANYTHING GREEK!!

WE ARE GETTING READY FOR THAT WITH A MAJOR EXHIBITION THAT WILL HONOUR GREECE, HONOUR ITS HEROES AND ITS HISTORY!!
