The Acropolis with the Parthenon, Athens

Maleas art spans the spectrum of classical, impressionist and modernist styles with paintings en plein air, similar to this small gem of his. The Acropolis, Athens and the Parthenon were subjects the artist painted time and again and as experts on the artist state, “Maleas showed paintings of the Acropolis in every exhibition he had in Athens.”  This is a small masterpiece by an artist whose work is housed in the best Greek museums and collections around the world.
