WHAT HAVE WE GOT LEFT FROM ANCIENT TIMES?
When we look around us, when we think seriously about what we inherited from our ancestors the majority of things we see and know extremely well are their art achievements which are embodied in the ancient monuments of today.
Who does not know about the Pyramids?
Who does not know about the Parthenon?
Who has no idea what the ancient Egyptians achieved with the Pyramids and their art?
Who does not know that the Greeks of the 500 BC Athens left behind a legacy for humanity to admire and talk about for millennia that have passed and will pass!
Who does not know about the achievements of Alexander the Great, even though most of us think that he was just a Great General?
Who does not know what the Romans delivered to our world of today in spite of their armies? From Rome, to Greece, to the Middle East their culture and Ancient Monuments paint a beautiful picture of Humanity’s beauty!
WARS HAVE NO PLACE IN OUR PSYCHE FOR MOST OF US!!!
However, we do not want to know about the wars they fought even though we know about them. We do not want to talk about heroes fighting and killing each other but the cultural acts and achievements they brought about.
Today, my BLOG will pay honour to Humanity and Remember that we never forget the heroes of Wars but we celebrate much more the peaceful, cultural achievements of past generations of humanity either it was fifty, one hundred of years ago or indeed thousands of years ago.
We stood by culture and Humanity with our art collecting since the beginning of collecting art. Our commitment was always first to celebrate Humanity as we have experienced it and make it our aim to struggle for HUMANITY and its effects on us all today! Words pale into insignificance when one views art images and understands what they represent not only on the surface but also the deep meaning of what the artists were trying to bring about for all humanity to enjoy and celebrate!!
We have here a few images for all of our readers to enjoy and try to associate with. The artists were deep thinkers and for them representation was delivering the messages of millennia to us all people of today.
Humanity and Culture cannot be ignored by artists because of modernism and contemporarism, because of greed for money and lack of genuine art that will stand the centuries.
ANTONIS ANDREADIS ( 1948-2007)
Ancient and Modern monuments tell us a deep story of civilisation through millennia!!
VASILIS ZENETZIS (1935-2016)
Humanity witnesses a blunting of our values, ancient traditions for modern ideas that hold now but for how long? Contemporary art of nothing on the canvas or indeed rubbish on a canvas is a phenomenon of now, a phenomenon of millions of money that will hold No real value in humanity values of the future.
SUCH ART WE WITNESS TODAY, IN MY POOR VIEW, WILL NOT BE REMEMBERED AND CHERISHED TOMORROW AND THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, LET ALONE HUNDREDS OF YEARS AND MILLENNIA!!
