Zenetzis turned to Athens and its treasures from 1992 onwards. He painted with passion, tremendous energy and delivered incredible paintings to Greece and its art history. As he says about his work of this time ” The burden of significance far outweighs technique or outward appearance in my work, no matter which work of mine one refers to.”

This pair of paintings of the Parthenon are the only ones of this size the artist painted during his life. They remain unique as a pair of paintings of an immortal temple that inspires the world. Their significance in the history of art of Greece is becoming clearer and clearer with the passing of years. Zenetzis was the artist of the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Athens of the 1990s and early 2000s.
