TRUST THE EXPERIENCE AND THE ART
ATHENS VIEW FROM ARDIDOS HILL, PAINTED ON LOCATION IN 2004
When an artist sells at auction for a few thousand pounds one has to pay attention to that fact. When other pieces of his art sell for hundreds and then thousands even in hard times that means the artist is popular, his art speaks to many. Art must sell at auction where the real arena of sales is happening AND THIS IS THE CASE WITH ZENETZIS.
Vasilis Zenetzis (1935-2016) is now credited with about forty sales in the indexes of ARTPRICE, the renowned art sales data organisation. His latest one and the best of the last few years due to covid crisis and Greek FINANCIAL crisis is about £1800 for a small pair of paintings showing the Acropolis and the Parthenon.
Zenetzis painted for about thirty years but only painted the Acropolis and Ancient monuments of Athens for Greeksinart between 1992 and 2004. That was the commission and the agreement between Greeksinart and the artist. Those paintings top the price lists of sales and are the most popular. The world appreciates art, the world appreciates the Parthenon and the Acropolis as well as anything connected to Athens and the environs.
A PAIR OF THESE PAINTINGS, 40 X 30 CM OIL ON CANVAS, SIGNED, SOLD FOR 1800 POUNDS AT SWORDERS IN ENGLAND IN 2022. THE PAINTINGS WERE ILLUSTRATED IN HIS MONOGRAPH AS NO 8, PAGE 21
Special interest and of huge importance are the paintings of Zenetzis of Cyprus painted in 1992-93 only for Greeksinart. Zenetzis was a great friend of Cyprus and loved the Cypriots as a Cretan and as a refugee descending from Asia Minor. The paintings of Cyprus are about 25 paintings in all and they shine for their content and their art.
